We have all taken risks in the making of war. Isn't it time that we should take risks to secure peace? ~J. Ramsay MacDonald

Im back from holiday in Batam on Sunday. Well actually the place i went is not exactly in Batam although its located in the province of Indonesia. My uncle, bought a house at Selat Nenek near Segulung so off we went there to enjoy the rest of our Christmas holidays.

We reached Sekupang around 11.45 or close to 12pm i think. Waited for about 20 minutes before Aunt and cousin came to pick us up with a van. The first thing i did when i saw cousin was to wave at her just to express my joy of seeing her since we did not get to see each other much this year. Then the shocking thing happened. Two guys called Abang Zul and Kamal were extending their hand to shake hand with me. I mean, i was surprised and did not know what to do at first so i just went with the flow which is shaking hands with guys. Okay, the next thing i thought is that, omg; dosa dosa!! haha

It was really an eye-opener for me since i usually went to Malaysia for holidays and not Indonesia. We head down first to the market. Okay, the market there is not the same as in Singapore. For about half an hour later, we headed to the mall. Actually its not really a mall. It just consist of many shops in an enclosed area. Usually in Singapore malls should consist of many restaurants, salons, cinema etc etc but however there, it only consist of small shops. Mind you, the only shopping i did there was to shop for more perfumes since they sold quite a number of perfumes. Instead of shopping for clothes like i used to do in Singapore, there i shop for perfumes haha By the time all the shopping was done, i've bought at least 4 perfumes and was hungry to the maximum. Ordered a plate of Fried Maggie which was delicious.

Soon, it was time for 'boarding time'. I've seen how the boat looks like from afar but the moment i had to 'board' the boat, i was freaking nervous. The first thing that came to my mind was "How in the world do i climb down the steps??" With shaky hands, i had to give a try to climb down the steps. The journey from to cousin's house was fun pack with full experience with the wind. Since brother and uncle went fishing with the rest of the guys in house, cousin and me were the only ones left including 4 small little ones and Kamal. Around 9+pm Indonesian time, we headed down to the open field to watch some dance thingy.

Seriously, the dance there was like the outdoor version of a club whereby you had to pay in order to dance. So, we watch those guys dancing with the girls whom they choose themselves. Some are fun to watch while others are just a laughing stock. hehe If it is possible, will upload the video. haha. Stayed till around 3+ to watch the whole thing. hehe

Next day was uneventful but the thing is, the time there seems to be much slower than when im in Singapore. Anyway, people said that last day is usually the day where you will remember the most. I guess its true. We were watching the performance as usual. I decided against my better judgement to sit alone at a near by stone to watch the performance closer. Soon theres this guy called Yoyo who introduced himself and happily sat at the empty space beside me. He smell like alcohol. But he was a great company actually. However, i was still quite shaken with the turning event of the night. Theres this drunk guy who kept on talking and talking with aunt when i was seated with bro, cousin, aunt and kamal. At first it was funny seeing how aunt had to try very hard to listen to everything that he says. But then he began wanting to get to know cousin. I was laughing very hard when i heard aunt said that he had to ask permission from kamal cause he is the future son-in law. haha So, he turned towards me and began asking my name etc etc. Next thing i knew, he's toughing my leg. Eww!! Okay, forget about it.

Basically, i did nothing while we were there except to enjoy the peace i experienced there. It felt so peaceful. I feel as if i did not have to rush to get things to be done. I could take my own sweet time. Well, i guess it is the consequence of living in singapore. You need to be fast and efficient in order to survive.
